We know that dental emergencies can happen at any time. That’s why we provide Out of Hours Emergency Care, giving you access to support when you need it most.
When Should You Use Emergency Care?
You may need emergency dental care if you experience:
-
Severe pain that cannot be managed with over-the-counter pain relief
-
Dental trauma from an accident or injury, such as a broken or knocked-out tooth
-
Uncontrolled bleeding in the mouth or gums
-
Facial swelling that is affecting your breathing or swallowing
How to Access Out of Hours Emergency Care:
-
Call the Practice: For urgent dental issues outside regular hours, call the practice and follow the Member's Option on our out-of-hours message. This will guide you to our emergency line for further assistance.
-
Out of Hours Dentist Assistance: The on-call duty dentist will offer assistance via a phone consultation. If an in-person visit is required, you will receive a link to our online booking system to schedule an emergency appointment. Payment will be required at the time of booking to secure your appointment.
What to Expect:
-
Support: Our team will guide you on managing your pain or symptoms until you're seen.
-
Online Weekend Booking: Secure your emergency weekend appointment online with pre-payment to confirm your slot.
-
Emergency Temporary Treatment: If needed, you’ll receive temporary treatment to relieve your symptoms and ensure your comfort until a full appointment can be arranged.

Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme
Our practice offers access to the Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme as part of your Quay Dental Membership. This scheme is designed to provide you with peace of mind, offering support when you need it most.
Key Benefits:
-
Up to £10,000 for dental trauma treatment per incident
-
Coverage for emergency callouts, pain relief, and temporary treatment
-
Support for hospital stays following dental or maxillofacial surgery
-
Financial assistance for Oral Cancer diagnosis
-
Redundancy cover: reimbursement of your Quay Dental Membership fees if you are made compulsorily redundant
How It Works:
-
Eligibility: As a Quay Dental Membership holder, you’re automatically eligible to request assistance from the scheme.
-
Discretionary Support: All requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Scheme Manager. Benefits are discretionary, meaning there’s no guarantee of payment, but assistance is often granted for genuine cases.
-
Pre-Authorisation: For the best chance of assistance, it’s important to contact the scheme before proceeding with treatment where possible. This helps ensure the request is pre-authorised.
-
Submitting a Claim: After treatment, submit a claim with relevant receipts. If your request is accepted, the scheme may pay your dentist directly or reimburse you for the treatment costs.
What’s Not Covered:
-
Routine dental treatments or treatments planned before trauma
-
Injuries sustained during contact sports like rugby or boxing without proper protection
-
Treatment provided by your regular dentist during normal working hours
For full terms and conditions, or if you have questions, please contact the Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme.
